Prysmian Group exhibited at the 2017 Cablex Exhibition at Chester Racecourse on the 7th June.
It was a new event focussed on the power distribution market and all things related to cables, and was a huge success for Prysmian Group. It was well attended by both our customers and competitors in the UK.
Over 700 Visitors
There were 80 exhibiting companies including 12 companies who were carrying out product demonstrations throughout the day. According to the official figure from the organizers, there were over 700 visitors from around the power distribution market in the UK. These covered; jointers, engineers, standards engineers, purchasing and procurement, installation and asset management.
New Technology
Prysmian’s attendance was focussed on the reveal of its new revolutionary Link Box technology. The official launch of the new range included:
- 924T3 Series Low Voltage 4 Way Underground Tailed Link Disconnecting Box
- 922T3 Series Low Voltage 2 Way Underground Tailed Link Disconnecting Box
- 924PC Series Low Voltage 4 Way Underground Pre-Cast Link Disconnecting Box
- 922PC Series Low Voltage 2 Way Underground Pre-Cast Link Disconnecting Box
There were also 10 seminar sessions throughout the day including one by Stuart Cox - utilities products manager of Prysmian- on the development and launch of the new LV link-box. These were all well attended.
The Linkbox
The new low voltage underground link box is used on the Low voltage distribution network, primarily in the UK. The existing products on the market include a heavy (cast iron) bell lid to keep the working parts of the link-box dry. This is an issue as it is not fully sealed to moisture. Furthermore, the bell lids by their nature are heavy and can weigh up-to 30-40kg. This means that under modern legislation and guidelines it requires 2 people to remove and replace the bell lids. In our new design- launched at Cablex- Prysmian has removed the bell lid and replaced it with full sealable lightweight chambers. In addition to the vastly reduced weight and the obvious Health and Safety benefits, the new design is lockable which is an added security benefit to customer.
